News Splash – February

From The Bahamas to Guatemala, our reuse container to the latest climate insights, and much more. This month’s News Splash shows why sustainable water management is more important than ever.

Sustainable water treatment in The Bahamas

Our subsidiary Global Water & Energy has recently commenced operations at Commonwealth Brewery in The Bahamas, where a state-of-the-art water treatment system has been installed featuring degassing, activated carbon filtration, disinfection, and precise pH adjustment.

With this installation, we are supporting Commonwealth Brewery in achieving more efficient and sustainable water management. 🌊

NWB wastewater treatment Tilburg, Netherlands

Ekopak acquires NWB industrial wastewater treatment plant in Tilburg

Ekopak has recently acquired the NWB (New Water Business) industrial wastewater treatment plant in Tilburg, the Netherlands. The facility collects wastewater from Agristo, Coca-Cola, Fujifilm, and IFF, in order to treat it sustainably and upgrade it for reuse.

Integrated into our Water-as-a-Service (WaaS®) model, Ekopak will be fully responsible for operational performance and further optimization.

Reuse container HQ Ekopak

Did you know our headquarters in Deinze is completely off-grid when it comes to water? Rainwater is locally treated and reused, not only for sanitary purposes, but also as high-quality drinking water. The water is collected in two underground storage tanks. Thanks to a multi-barrier treatment process, a safe and consistent water quality is ensured.

This system provides drinking water daily for 150 employees, entirely without connection to the municipal water network.

Waste water treatment installation in Guatemala

New wastewater treatment plant operational in Guatemala

We are proud to announce the startup of a new wastewater treatment plant in Guatemala, for one of the largest brewing groups in the region.

The plant integrates proven technologies across every stage of the treatment process, including primary treatment, anaerobic treatment, aerobic treatment, biogas-based energy recovery, and odor control.

These solutions enable efficient water treatment, maximize energy recovery, and significantly reduce environmental impact. 🍃

Long-term partnership with leading European infrastructure investor

In January, Ekopak announced a long-term strategic partnership with a leading European infrastructure investor to accelerate the deployment of its Water-as-a-Service (WaaS®) and Circeaulair business model and support the next phase of its growth.

Climate Summary 2025: The third-warmest year on record

Copernicus, the European Climate Change Service, recently published its Annual Climate Summary. The past three calendar years have been the warmest on record globally, with average temperatures more than 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels (1850–1899). This is a clear reminder that sustainable water management is more important than ever. 💧
