Ekopak (EKOP:xbru) is proud to announce that it has recently acquired ownership of the NWB (New Water Business Tilburg B.V.) industrial wastewater treatment plant in Tilburg, the Netherlands. With this acquisition, Ekopak assumes full management and operation of the plant and strengthens its position in sustainable and circular water management in the Netherlands.
NWB in Tilburg comprises a private industrial wastewater treatment plant that collects wastewater from four companies in the region (Agristo, Coca-Cola, Fujifilm, and IFF) in order to treat it sustainably and upgrade it for reuse. Due to their high water consumption, these partners decided to jointly invest in a central plant on the Fujifilm site.
Approximately three-quarters of the Dutch province of North Brabant consists of sandy soil. These sandy soils retain little water and dry out quickly, limiting the supply of water from rivers. This makes the region particularly vulnerable to water shortages and drought.
By integrating the installation into the Water-as-a-Service (WaaS®) model, Ekopak will be fully responsible for operational performance and further optimization. The installation will be further expanded in the coming years with the aim of achieving maximum water reuse. This acquisition will contribute positively to both the group’s WaaS revenue and EBITDA from the beginning of 2026 and fits in with the strategic focus on recurring revenue and scalable growth.
For Ekopak, this also marks the first application of wastewater within the WaaS concept, which until now has mainly been used for process water. This underlines the successful integration of the various activities within the Ekopak group and confirms the growing market acceptance of the WaaS model, also outside Belgium.
Pieter Loose, Chief Strategy & Growth Officer at Ekopak: “This acquisition fits in with Ekopak’s mission to make industrial regions more resilient to water scarcity. By treating and reusing wastewater locally, Ekopak reduces pressure on natural water sources and offers a sustainable solution in an as-a-service model. This model is not only relevant for Belgium, but also scalable in neighboring countries and beyond.”
