Ekopak supports further growth and invests in new business premises in Deinze

Ekopak (EKOP:xbru), an ESG company that markets off-grid water solutions, today announces the investment in new business premises at De Prijkels business park in Deinze. These premises will support Ekopak’s further growth and are a tangible representation of the company’s sustainability vision.

Ekopak has reached an agreement with Veneco and the local council to realise the new building on a plot of approx. 2.1 ha (plot no. 22) on the De Prijkels site in Deinze. The investment is needed to support and accelerate Ekopak’s further growth. Ekopak also wants to play a pioneering role in the field of sustainability.

Building of the future

The current Ekopak head office in Tielt, the office in Ghent and the warehouse in Roeselare will be combined at a single location, which is suitable for sustaining future growth.
It is comprised of an office building and a factory workshop to accommodate the various teams. The Ekopak office in Genk will continue to operate.

The commercial premises, designed by Vandriessche Architecten, offer a glimpse of the future and have the capacity to be fully self-sustainable when it comes to energy and water consumption.

Ekopak is striving for a sustainable building that goes beyond the specifications set down in the urban planning regulations (CO2 neutrality). Ekopak is committed to using sustainable and environmentally friendly construction materials. The new premises will generate as much energy as possible from renewable sources, for example through the use of solar panels. The surplus electricity generated will in turn be used to run smart charging stations for the company’s fleet of electric vehicles. All these measures will ensure that Ekopak generates more energy than it uses, It is therefore referred to as an energy-positive building.
As a specialist in water treatment and recycling, Ekopak will collect and reuse rainwater. The waste sanitary waste will also be treated and recuperated.

We will move into the new business premises, which represent a total investment of €18 million, in the spring of 2024.

Pieter Loose, Ekopak CEO:

‘We have grown significantly over recent years, and these new business premises are necessary to support our continued growth. We want to further strengthen our focus on sustainability, and we are proud that we can realise fully self-sustainable and CO2 neutral premises, completely off-grid. This will be the standard moving forward.’

Stan Vandriessche, Vandriessche Architecten:

‘As an energy-conscious and committed agency, we’re happy that we can shape this ambitious and challenging project for Ekopak. Ekopak is a pioneer in corporate social responsibility, and this new building will represent, promote and strengthen their identity. We’re tackling the programme in an clever way that focuses on combining well-designed architecture in its specific context with the wellbeing of the people who will use the building.’

Danny Claeys, mayor of Nazareth and chair of Veneco:

‘Ekopak is providing lots of employment opportunities – with 100 additional workers, for example, committed to working on sustainability at the business park and on a social level.’
