Top Bronnen is located in Brakel on a 55-hectare estate that boasts magnificent natural wealth. In the heart of this domain, natural Top mineral and spring water have been flowing for centuries. Top Bronnen highly values sustainability and has been exploring ways to handle their water resources more sustainably.
Ekopak Builds Closed Circuit Reverse Osmosis (CCRO) System
To increase production capacity, Top Bronnen decided to replace its old water treatment installation. With sustainability as the key driver, maximizing efficiency to minimize water loss was crucial. Ekopak built a CCRO (Closed Circuit Reverse Osmosis) system for the first time to meet this need. CCRO is an advanced technology that recirculates water multiple times across membranes for optimal efficiency, resulting in a more effective separation of substances and achieving a 96% efficiency rate. This technology results in 20% less water loss compared to traditional RO systems. At Top Bronnen, CCRO is used to treat the mineral water that forms the basis for products such as lemonades.
The implementation of this installation involved close collaboration between the project teams at Ekopak and Dupont, as the CCRO technology is covered by their patent.
Reverse Osmosis (RO) installation for source water treatment
To protect their installations from scale formation during high-temperature cleaning, Top Bronnen needed to soften their source water. They decided to build an RO installation that removes hardness and conductivity from the source water without using salt. In addition to the CCRO and RO installations, Ekopak also installed a fully automatic CIP (Cleaning in Place) system, allowing for one-click cleaning of the membranes.
